Job Shadow Day 2024
On March 25, 2024, Victor Buck Services took part for the first time in the “Job Shadow Day” organized by the “Jonk Entrepreneuren” non-profit organisation. This event allowed students from Luxembourg schools to shadow company or department managers for a day.
Victor Buck Services had the pleasure to receive five students aged 16 and 17 from various Luxembourgish schools in our office in Capellen. Lucas, Edouard, Emilie, Julia, and Tim were paired with five VBS managers who mentored them throughout the day. The managers included:
- David Gillet (CIO)
- Stéphanie Noël (CEO)
- David Rigaux (Client Services Manager)
- Adrien Strobant (Change Management Manager)
- Jean-Pierre Wilvers (Manager Legal and Compliance, DPO)
The students had the opportunity to observe them in their daily tasks, meetings, and discussions. They also engaged in one-to-one conversations where managers explained their roles, shared anecdotes and answered questions. During lunchtime, all students and managers gathered together, providing an opportunity for informal interactions and networking. This immersive learning experience provided students with insights into the responsibilities of these positions and gave them a glimpse into professional life.
Julia, one of the students, shared her thoughts on the shadow day:
I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to spend a day at Victor Buck Services and shadow Stéphanie Noël. The experience was incredibly enriching, and I am grateful for the insights and knowledge I gained during my time with her.
Throughout the job shadow day, I had the privilege of observing and learning about various aspects of the business world. From gaining an understanding of the structure of the company and how people communicate to delving into the intricacies of public image, marketing, and branding. One of the most impactful lessons I took away from the experience was the importance of values and vision within a company. Seeing firsthand how these guiding principles shape decision-making and drive the company forward was truly inspiring.
We were pleased to impart our knowledge and experience to the next generation of professionals in Luxembourg during this Job Shadow Day 2024. This project was made possible through the collaboration of FEDIL – The Voice of Luxembourg’s Industry, Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg, the Chamber of Trades (Chambre des Métiers), the Chamber of Commerce (Chambre de Commerce), and the Ministry of Education, Children, and Youth.
